Tonuco Fluorite Mine & Petroglyphs

Departure: 7:30 AM – Dairy Queen (Transmountain & I-10)

Journey into the San Diego Mountains to explore a hidden treasure, a historic fluorite mine, and view Native American petroglyphs and pictographs etched into the rock. This hike blends history, geology, and culture with desert beauty all around.

Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous (steep terrain, slippery when wet)

Drive: 4-wheel drive needed for final mile (we’ll carpool/shuttle those without suitable vehicles), Time: 2-4 hours

Bring: Water, snacks, hiking boots, long pants, sunscreen, hat, and hiking sticks for balance
