Conservation Easement for Knapp Canyon?

This morning City Council unanimously decided to have city staff study the use of a conservation easement in order to permanently protect the 366 acre “Knapp land” on the slopes of the Franklins in the northeast which the city acquired in 2018. Janae Reneaud Field, Executive Director of the Frontera Land Alliance, explained the process for conservation easements and assured the Council that any costs could be minimized by grants, volunteer help and other means.

Celebration of Our Mountains will have a hike into Knapp Canyon on October 12, 2019. Dr. Eric Kappus of Southwest University, Judy Ackerman and Christi DeBates will lead the hike. Check it out HERE.
